A cornerstone of Hip-Hop's late 90's indie-uprise, DJ Spinna made much of his first impression on listeners as the musical background of his group The Jigmastas (having released an impressive slew of 12" singles on his then self-run label Beyond Real during this time) as well as providing the canvas for an array of that era’s lyrical giants. As an emcee in New York City, if you didn’t have a Spinna production under your belt, well, you just hadn’t accomplished all there was to accomplish. Everyone from Mos Def, Talib Kweli to Pharaohe Monch boasted Spinna beats to prove their worth to the scene. At the height of indie-kingpin Rawkus Records heyday, Spinna was in demand, also churning out timeless classics of the era from the likes of J-Live, Mr. Complex and The Polyrhythm Addicts (his all-too-brief collabo-group with Apani B., Shaabam Sadeeq and Complex).


As New York City's premier Monday night event for the last two years, the Hudson has consistently seen a curated roster of DJ legends and pioneering artists as wide-ranging as Louie Vega, Afrika Bambaataa, Jazzanova, Bobbito and Danny Krivit, playing styles from soulful house, Latin, hip hop, jazz, funk and more. Come join us afterwork on Friday November 13th, for the Afterwork Dinner, Drinks @ Dancing Meetup at Fashion 40 in the heart of Midtown!

Come enjoy half priced drinks from 6pm-7pm, while DJ Kaos spins the latest and we mingle and dance in our VIP section on the 2nd floor!

Note, the Meetup starts at 6pm, but if you are in the area earlier, you can drink downstairs beginning at 5pm for the same 2 for 1 drink specials until we set up at 6pm upstairs!

For those who didn't make it there for the Holiday Events or past afterwork Meetups, Fashion 40 is a very cool lounge, laid back music in the beginning, before the DJ starts playing music to get you on your feet! The service is very good, and there is a full menu as well, in case you are hungry between conversations with the group and dancing!

We will have the entire upstairs section of the venue for the Meetup. Just tell the doorman that you are there for the Meetup on the Black/Latino Meetup list.

And we will have at least 1 or 2 dedicated servers taking our drink orders as well, so no need to go downstairs to the bar and wait on line. Just relax and vibe with your fellow Meetup members upstairs in VIP!

Due to space restrictions, no MAYBE rsvp's are available for this Meetup.

Also, if you plan on attending, I recommend that you arrive EARLY at the start of the event. Our VIP section will fill up VERY quickly, and once we reach capacity, I cannot guarantee that you will be able to gain access to the area upstairs.

Additionally, if you RSVP YES and cannot attend, please be sure to change your RSVP by 12 noon the day of the Meetup to give another group member the chance to attend. If you RSVP through me and don't show up, please note your future RSVP's will not be given priority in future events.
