A perfect day indeed! In a daring and sexy film debut, Dennis Dortch offers us a rarely seen view into the myths and truths of Black sexuality. An Official Selection at the 2008 Sundance Film Festival, six intertwined skits show men and women in Los Angeles exploring desire, sex and love. Captured with a raw, unflinching eye, these gritty snapshots of urban pillow talk offer a rare, voyeuristic glimpse of black love and sexuality.

There will be a Q & A after the screening with the director

Many have heard of the alleged voting irregularities that occurred during the presidential elections of 2000 and 2004. Until now, these incidents have gone under-reported and are commonly written-off as insignificant rumors or unintentional mishaps resulting from an overburdened election system.

American Blackout chronicles the recurring patterns of voter disenfranchisement from Florida 2000 to Ohio 2004 while following the story of Georgia Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney. McKinney not only took an active role
investigating these election debacles, but has found herself in the middle of her own after publicly questioning the Bush Administration about the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Featuring: Congressional members: John Conyers, John Lewis, Stephanie Tubbs-Jones, Bernie Sanders and jounalists Greg Palast and Bob Fitrakis.

Angela Davis @ Cooper Union this Thursday!!!

In her lecture, Davis will link the concept of abolition democracy to questions of global politics. What does it mean that the prison-industrial-complex, often led by U.S. corporations, is expanding globally? What are the connections between the rapid expansion of prison
industries and the military-industrial-complex (as it was named in the 1950s)? What global forces contribute to the exploitation of peoples in different parts of the world? How can feminists and other advocates for democracy connect their movements around the world?

On October 30, we will learn what visions of another possible world?one of freedom, justice and democracy?are offered by these movements and by Davis?s long experience as both an activist and a scholar.
